1989 Ford Bronco II Eddie Bauer from North America - Comments

"A well-built, well-designed, wonderful car."

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The alternator went out at 100,000 miles.

Rear exhaust has rusted out a few times

due to periods of intermittent driving.

Heater fan went out at 120,000 miles.

Front bushings wear out about every 40-60,000 miles.

Oil pump replaced at 140,000 miles.

General comments?

This car is my pride and joy and I would not trade it or sell it.

It handles great, still looks brand new,

and has never left me stranded anywhere- when something does go wrong, I'm either pulling into or out of the driveway. Must be cosmic.

The new Escapes are just not the same.

1990 Eddie Bauer Bronco II. Has never left me stranded, always limps into the driveway (twice this week).

106,000 miles. Think the alternator may be bad. Battery is only 6 months old and still lights dash and interior lights. Continued to lose electric the entire way home. First the radio cut out, then as I drove had to keep turning off electric to keep the car afloat (radio, heat, windshield wipers, finally exterior lights). Got it to the driveway, now it won't start (but the interior lights/radio work).

Any suggestions on where to start/how to proceed would be appreciated. Reply to kjstever@hotmail.com.

I am having trouble with oil pressure on my 1989 Bronco II. Wondering if you were loosing oil pressure before you had to get the oil pump changed, and how much it set you back when you did have the oil pump changed. Thanks, and you can respond to tke_800@yahoo.com.

I just picked up this model a month or so ago for $500. Here are two issues we have right now with it other than having to get a tune-up. The battery light comes on and flickers off, yet the alternator gauge reads just fine. Is this maybe a faulty indicator light? The other problem is the oil pressure. As long as it's over 1500 RPMs, the oil pressure is within normal range, but as soon as it idles down below this, it drops and sometimes bounces back and forth. It seems like it gets worse, the warmer it gets and it's not overheating. Our first step will be a major tune up and see how that affects things. I have been doing research to try and figure out the other two issues as I'm not sure the tune up will remedy them. Thanks for any advice!

Need to know what the indicater lights mean on the dash. I am missing the cover and need to know what the right 2 lights mean. This is a 1987 Ford Bronco II
