Rebuilt engine at 90,000 miles.
Replaced 02 sensor at 155,000 miles.
Replaced fuel shut off switch at 215,000 miles.
Repaired gas tank holes (rust).
Replaced the drive shaft at 205,000 miles.
Great car for how much I paid.
Always runs when I need it too.
Never gets stuck, even in the worst of everything.
Roomy backseat ;-)
Tows like a mule.
For the $600 I've put into it, including purchase, this SUV rocks.
Hi Steve, I have an `88 bronco 11 that I love also! But as you stated "Rusty, but Trusty". Do you know of anybody that makes tubs, or quarter panels for these? Any information on this subject will be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks! Mike, Alpena michigan, Just north of Detroits salt mines...
I too own an 88 Bronco II that now is perilously close to crossing 300,000 miles. I bought it new and to date I have replaced;
Approx. 4 or 5 clutches over its life.
Threw a rod at 140K, so replaced the engine. The new engine heads were cracked, but replaced under warranty, though the labor cost me as I self-installed it.
Gas tank sender broke early on, but I never ran out as a result. I always knew exactly how many miles I could go before I was on fumes. Eventually fixed it when the price came down on them.
Driver seat back broke... I see that a lot in junk yards.
Replaced the tranny finally after 260K.
The usual... mufflers, starters, water pump, brakes etc.
Still have the original fuel injectors, alternator, and 4 wheel drive. Just did the tie rods for the first time.
Over all, an excellent vehicle with a below average owner (me), but it takes all of my abuse and more. The second motor is needing to be rebuilt at 288k miles as it is leaking oil. I am still trying to decide whether to put some money into rebuilding the motor and run it for another 150k... do you think that FORD will give me a new car if I do? ;^)
