Bad engine, really bad, head gaskets, valve noise and bearing noise.
I knew there was a reason I didn't want to work on this car when my nephew brought it by. If you've ever had to service a toyota and then a ford
the difference in quality is dramatic and as soon as we dump this on a ford lover the better. I can't figure out why people are lured in buying this stuff. And while this is my professional opinion, there are lots of bulletins and discussions about this. anyway enough.
Amen brother I feel your pain I also have one of these fun and reliable vehicles they keep writing about in here!! HA HA!!. These EXPERTS posting here keep saying on my post that maybe I didn't know how to maintain and drive it. Well that lack of knowledge has driven me to 175,000 miles with a 81 Nissan 200sx and 125,000 miles with a 94 Camaro Z-28 without even pulling a valve cover.
I am proud bronco II owner. It hurts me deep down to see what I have just read = (I have a bronco II that has 182,000 miles with the original engine and tranny... never rebuilt. I drove this thing from oklahoma city to houston texas numerous times, and later from savannah georgia to amarillo texas a couple of times as well. Never have I worried about being stranded, never have I been stranded. My rear bearing went out once at about 175,000 miles on my way from okc to amarillo. I took out the driveshaft, put it in 4wd and continued on my trip. I take this thing mudding like you wouldn't believe, sometimes you might call it swimming. I have left jeeps stuck in my tracks. I would never wish for anything else. If you aquired one of these at a high mileage, who knows what ppl may have done to it, that may have been your problem. Once in a while, you may find a lemon, but for the most part, you should be over satisfied with these vehicles. Thanks for listening, I hope you have better experiences in the future.
I have an 89 ford bronco ll and had the motor rebuilt twice
in 14years due to lack of oil pressure and I am contemplating another rebuild. Once the rebuilds were done
the motor still had a ticking sound and was told that was
the way the motor would sound. My problem is I really like
the vehicle, but I am not sure whether it is worth it to do
it again. I am wondering if there is a solution to this
problem or can I put a different motor in with out major
adjustments?Any suggestions would be appreciated.
