1984 Ford Capri 2lt S review from UK and Ireland
"Can't wait to get my next one"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Radiator went.
Wing edges were rusting.
The diff seized.
General comments?
Details above are of my last capri. I've owned 24 of them to date, 3 with V8's.
These are the marmite car, you love em or hate em!
If driven sensibly & have the weber carbs they do reasonable fuel mileage.
Stone age mechanical bits make them easy to work on & tune up by even the most hopeless diy mechanic, You can sit in the engine bay to work its that big.
Body work is the big letdown on these as the only thing that doesn't rot is the roof (unless its got a sunroof fitted or vinyl roof)
If you buy one buy a welder!! Parts & panels are dirt cheap new, but getting scarce secondhand.
Bolt on a four branch manifold & off you go for some sideways fun. Subaru's may be fast, but they have none of the character & aren't half the fun of an old capri!
2.8i was nice, but the 3litre was the daddy.
