1998 Ford Contour GL review from North America
"Evil"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
First thing to go was a transmission sensor.
Next came the brakes - 4 times.
The tires have been replaced twice.
Various electronics keep shorting out & needing new fuses.
New spark plugs have been bought 3 times.
Then it started stalling. A lot. The mass flow sensor was replaced. Nothing changed. It still stalls badly.
Low idle & hard starts.
The defrost no longer works.
More stalling.
General comments?
I loved this car when I first got it. It was perfect & it ran beautifully for about a year. Since then I am constantly on edge whenever I have to drive anywhere. The stalling has gotten so bad in the last month that I have started taking to renting cars if I have anywhere important to go because my car cannot be relied upon to get me there.
I have taken it in to 5 mechanics to be checked out & no one has been able to help me. It is currently at a Ford dealership in the hopes that they can do something however I doubt it & in fact they have been trying to sell me another car rather than find the problem & fix it. Since I'm not made out of $$ that is not a n option.
