1996 Ford Contour GL review from North America
"High priced piece of junk"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Engine light comes on on a regular basis. Mechanics said there is nothing wrong with the car.
Drivers side power window went down and stayed down - resulting in a $200 repair. The window track broke and the motor burned out.
Power door locks quit working.
Trunk leaks near the tail lights causing the trunk to get wet, and the spare tire well to fill with water. I was able to fix this with clear tub and tile caulk.
I just had new plugs and wires put in back in October of 2003, and 4 months later I had to have them done again as well as a new coil pack installed.
The car does not want to stay running after it is warmed up. It chugs and hesitates.
General comments?
This is absolutely the worst car that I have ever owned! I make the loan payments on it only for it to sit in the driveway because I am afraid to take it anywhere for fear that it will die when I have my 2 small children with me.
I will never buy another Contour nor will I ever recommend this car to anyone!
