Leaking radiator.
Worn synchro-mesh on 2nd gear.
Rusty.
Sluggish car with a relatively thirsty 1.6 engine.
Nice ride, but lacks either power or economy.
Flimsy build quality.
I'm sorry, but I guess your car was manufactured on a Monday morning, otherwise they're pretty done crafty.
(I must admit, one screw (of 12 similar ones) was forgotten at my car, too)
Take care of your piece of ford-heritage

Leaking rad and worn synchro? I bet that's been to the moon and back! cortina boxes are nigh-on indestructible if you keep them topped up with oil!
As for thirst and lack of performance, I would bet money you still have the original VV carb on it. these were crap even when new and is best replaced with a weber, which will improve performance and to a lesser extent economy.
A 2-litre twin choke weber carb will fit, but you need matching inlet manifold, throttle linkage and air filter and the timing needs to be altered. every cortina I owned had this modification and it really does improve them no end.
As for rust, well 70's fords never were known for their rust resistance... I am suprised yours has lasted this long, but very glad to see one that hasn't ended its days on the banger track. good luck to you.
