1999 Ford Cougar 24v review from UK and Ireland
"Brings a smile to my face every time"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Stuck switch on the dash computer.
Rear wash wipe switch is broken.
Exhaust catalyst replaced due to excess noise.
General comments?
Deciding to purchase this car was a big decision for someone who previously owned a turbo diesel for the previous four years. But buy it I did, and love it I do.
Had a few niggles, but most covered by the dealer's warranty. Ride is smooth and very grippy, acceleration fantastic and although I have the cloth seat version I personally find it very comfortable. The dash and instruments are very cleverly designed, but I have had problem's with the view of the speedometer in respect to the height adjustment of the steering wheel, this could be down to stumpy legs of course.
A big surprise to me was the fuel consumption, I expected it to be poor, but seems with careful driving to be moderate to good.
Overall I would definitely recommend this car, but new, at full retail price?
