1997 Ford Crown Victoria P71 police interceptor review from North America
"Very nice heavy riding muscual comfortable automobile"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Its runnin rough (often) mainly hot weather. I recieved codes concerning bank1 oxygen sensor1 'slow to respond' I erased it, it returns check engine lite is on. I spent $800. The car after 60 mph, runs fantastic!
I also get a code stating 'random cylinder misfire'
I'm not the money spent went to set of wires, mass air sensor, oxygen sensor, one set of coil. It runs great in some aspects, but until I get this repair done, I'm having some problems. but even so--on the highway, its great! and even in rush hour traffic with air cond on at 98 degree waether in goerge town washington DC, it still startes up always, and never (other than battery replacemnt) left me stranded.
General comments?
When the car is running good, (which still is often even without the necessarty repair) it truly can be very muscular feeling. Now, lets be sensible here. with the dual exaust, it puts out 210 honest HP, 270 lb ft toqrque with 327 rear gears. THis car canNOT compete with a caprice with 5.7 ltr (mid 1990's) camaro (corvette) engine. that car has 330 lb ft torque and 260 hp. I drove my buddy's 2006 hemi dodge 5.7 ltr 345 hp car at 1/4 mile run at captiol race way, with the air condition ON, in97 degree weather, the car turned 14.3 at 98 mph. NO P71 can do that!! especially our revered and loved crown vic p71!! hey. I love the car too!!
But (lol) heh... lets be reasonable... it is muscular, and very comfortable ride, but it is not a SSimpala 1996 and it is not a hemi dodge! 2007 or 1967! it is NOT and cannot compete! so... okay 1m 54 years old and drove and owned many cars including 1967 thunderbird with 429 (427?)... (heh) oh man,...I can't remember..heh.. anyone remember did ford put the 427 or 429 as optional engine form the 390 in those panther cars? getting old!! heh... I love all comments of the crown vic... I truly the love the car.
