2000 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor review from North America
"I will be buying another for my next vehicle"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
It seems to be cupping the front tires, but the repair shop said the ball joints and tie rods along with rest of front end look great. Getting an alignment to have the rest checked over.
General comments?
For being as heavy as it is, this thing takes off with more acceleration than any vehicle I have owned.
The hard quick shifts are awesome.
With this many miles on it, I would expect an oil leak, but this car leaks absolutely no oil. even though it is 8 years old and was a State Trooper car.
It's very comfortable and you can stuff plenty of people in the back.
Gas mileage between city and highway is about 19mpg, and that's with my foot to the floor a lot of the time. (My 95 Bronco got 11-12mpg with similar driving.)
Trunk is huge, and holds plenty even with full-size spare.
The only bad thing about this car is the cost of tires. Speed rated tires on the car cost about $180 for Goodyear Eagle Ultra Grip GW-2s, which the car came with.
Of course the back doors don't open from the inside, and the dome light doesn't come on when you open the drivers door (even with the blue connector disconnected), but neither problem is a big deal, and was expected since it was a previously a patrol car.
