2004 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor review from North America
"ANYONE should get one and enjoy these cars. They're great"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Water pump, steering pump.
Alternator seized up and snapped a belt.
Passenger side wiper flies off after a day.
General comments?
This is my 4th Crown Victoria, and my 3rd Police Interceptor.
This car is from Georgia and has 209,000 miles on it of pursuits and high speed driving, it was used in the reckless driving division.
This car has surpassed all tests, doesn't leak a single fluid, will bark the tires from 1st to 2nd gear at 45mph, and throw you into the seat well past 130.
Gas can get a little expensive if you have a heavy foot. The 4 speed transmission is geared differently than normal with a shift kit to help with the sloppy shifts found on Ford's 4r70w transmission.
The 4.6L V8 is paired with a built transmission and a final drive line ratio of 4.10, so this car really flies.
Love every bit of driving this car; it starts up every morning, doesn't burn fluids, can idle for hours without problem, and I've taken it to 100+ mph in 90 degree heat and then let it idle and had no overheating problems.
Got 23mpg with A/C on at 60mph on the highway. Got 24 mpg without, and averaged 18mpg city, and with a heavy foot around 14mpg with the higher gear ratio.
These cars are amazing in all ways. It's a 4 door sports car. 0-60 is 5.9 sec, and it can go from 50-100 in 5.2 sec. Down shifts are quick and firm at any speed, and allow the car to take off like a bullet at any speed.
5 stars in all departments.
It eats brakes and tires fast, especially with posi.
