1988 Ford Crown Victoria LTD LX review from North America
"I would recommend the Ford LTD Crown Victoria to anybody"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
At first when I got the car, the brake light switch blew, shortly afterwards it started stalling so I replaced the air filter. Then, at work it started stalling as I put the car in gear, so when I got it home I replaced the block heater.
A month later the windows started fogging up as I was driving it so the heater core was replaced. Shortly afterwards the battery and front fenders were replaced as well as the starter relay.
That summer the power window on the driver's door stopped working so I disconnected the window from the mechanicals and opened and shut it by hand (the rear passenger window never worked when I bought the car), and the driver's door wiring harness was redone.
I did some other body work and painted the whole car with a "Call A Cab" Blue spray can as well as a dark blue racing stripe on the center of the hood, dark blue trunk lid and paint accents on the grille where the chrome plating wasn't originally on. And the rocker panels got the dark blue because of the header panel got smashed in a car accident.
That fall I purchased a 1984 Ford LTD Crown Victoria for parts, but the 1984 turned out to be in better condition. So off to the crusher the old 1988 went.
Now I'm putting the 1984 on the road with 1988 parts.
General comments?
This car was comfortable, fast, reliable and capable of driving on 4X4 terrain.
The old 88 had guts and smoked many Mustangs, Z28s and Mazda 323s.
