1992 Ford Crown Victoria LX Performance Package review from North America
"Luxury Car Look and Ride with the Heart of A Sports Car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
AC Compressor after 10 years. Tail light switch and fuse-able link. Ignition cylinder is loose and could be replaced. Front speakers, radio amp and cassette deck have intermittent problems. Rear passenger power window and door lock very rarely inoperable, possible short. Trip odometer ten digit position sticks.
General comments?
This vehicle has all the options of the police interceptor package (wheels, handling, performance, air suspension, dual exhaust, heavy duty transmission oil pan etc) except for the 140mph calibrated speedometer, instead it has the optional 120mph speedometer (much better than the lame 85mph one). If you want everything the interceptor has, yet don't want a vehicle that has been abused look for an LX with the added features. This is a sports car concealed under a luxury car's skin. This car rides so smooth you forget how fast you are going, and it has no problem accelerating at highway speeds. Literally blows away the competition and leaves them in the dust. This is one FORD that won't be Found On Road Dead or have to be Fixed Or Repaired Daily. The engines seem to last forever. Mine doesn't leak any fluids, but does need a quart of oil every 3000 miles. Although it is designed for police use you don't have to take any prisoners that aren't willing. I love this car, can't you tell?
