1985 Ford Crown Victoria LX review from North America
"Great ride modest power"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Fixed a lot of engine oil leaks from previous owner letting it sit idle to the tune of $200 plus because I changed out the timing chain and water pump while I was that far into it.
Rear axle seals had failed bathing brakes in rear-end lubricant that ran over $700.
Air conditioning needed a $1000 overhaul.
I spent $800 on a sound system - at this point I was committed.
General comments?
It started out to be a good deal at $1400 but it took another $2000 to get it right. 1985 is the year just before the good fuel injection so it's a pain to upgrade in California because the aftermarket hasn't supported it.
It has a great ride. It is the civilian model and in perfect condition except for some landau fade. It has a relaxing ride to the point of being soothing (compared to my giddy-up go Mustang).
