1993 Ford Crown Victoria LX review from North America

"Some of the last American quality muscle"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

So far since I haven't had it that long the things that were wrong with it were things that the previous owner had done to it. Since I'm the third owner of the car my girfriends father gave the car to a lady that worked for him because she had had an accident with her other car and she ended up having it for just about a year and a half.

When my gfs father had it his son hit two deer at the same time with the front of the car causing a need for a new hood a new left front fender, bumper header and new light brackets. I don't know if they needed a new radiator. Soon after that an older woman drove from a side street into the side of the car as it was being driven by my gfs mother. Both doors on the left side had to be replaced, but no frame damage just minor sheet metal believe it or not. And finally somebody hit the right rear door while it was sitting in the parking lot at a mall.

When the car was given to his employee it had 120000 on it. While in her custody the left rear door and front left door where damaged from some "unkown occurance" I think it was her daughter... anyway the left rear door needs to be replaced with its hinges and the front door needs to have its gap shaved down between the front fender and the door because the hinge was slightly mooved. The left rear tail light was also smashed from being backed up into something. (and was repared with red duct tape which drives me nuts!!!) the left head light needs to have the lense replaced and the right turning light needs replacement also.

It was then given back to my gfs dad whom having gotten a newer crown vic gave me the 93. I have to replace a door and get a new tail light and head light and turn light. I also am planning to transferr over my stereo, amp and 10s from my other car as this will be my new run around.

General comments?

Well to start out with I got the car for nothing. Eventhough the lady who had the car before me dented it up a little bit it is mechanically sound. for having 140000 on it I was at first skeptical untill I drove it and heard the motor. No noises except for that 281 purring out of dual exhaust. I also have heard from many other people that these models have a tendency to hit the big 200000 because of how well the transmission and motor are made.

I was concerned that the car might give out on me after I put some money into it, but as far as I can tell its in very good shape for its age.

The airbag suspension in the car makes the car feel like you are floating. The only objection I have with the suspension is that it really tends to bounce if the car has no weight in it. After all of the mileage the car runs very well, sounds great will look great after I do a few things. Its powerful with the 281dohc with duel exhaust, it handles like a dream. After seeing it already take two dear and two minor accidents without any major damage I have to say I trust the car and I plan to keep it as long as I can. No wonder the police use this model.
