The fuel gauge stops working after a hard left turn, and will work after a hard right turn.
It has the police package 351 with the varible venturi carburetor on a computer controller. It's pretty bagged and almost needs to wind up until it goes hard at about 3500 rpm.
A tire has seperated, but it'll get new ones anyways just out of preference for one brand instead of the Wal*Mart kind.
The heater core is bypassed and the windows took about 2 hours to clean. Whoever owned it probably didn't realize the antifreeze steam is poison, and makes glass look like fried chicken was rubbed on it.
There's a scab of rust forming around the driver door mirrior. That's the only rust on the whole car.
Despite the fuel mileage, this is a fun, powerful car. I believe it's rated around 300-325 horse power. I get about 18 litres per 100 km driving the snot out of it, while my Impala with a 305 got that while it was being driven very gingerly. I didn't buy it for economy anyways. :-)
Just think what could go wrong if you drive another 500km!
WHOA ITS NOT THAT HIGH HORSEPOWERED, its actually 180 HP stock.
Maybe you're right. Are you sure it's 180 horse? It seems to pick up a little quicker than that.
I thought the police package increased power by a lot?
Actually a bone stock 1982 Crown Vic with the 351 police package only has 160hp. 1985-1991 police package vics had the benefits of better flowing cylinder heads so there hp was bumped to 180hp at 3600rpm and 285 lbs of torque at 2400rpm.
To the original poster, if you want better off the line performance consider upgrading to a higher gear ratio such as 3.27. Most likely your car has a stock 2.73 track-lock rear which was standard on the police package cars.
