1988 Ford Escort GL review from North America
"Withstood 4 hard years of teenage angst"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Alternator went out.
Three collisions, including 2 deer and a Subaru.
Replaced suspension.
General comments?
Not the prettiest car, but dang this thing could take a beating!
It actually belonged to a friend of mine, but it amazed me so much I had to put it up here. We drove this through High School and it held up to our constant beatings, we would fly down old dirt roads in the backwoods of Maine at 60-70-80 mph and the handling on this lil racecort was as nimble as ever!
When purchased it was in like new excellent condition, with only 32000 miles on it, but at the end of its life it was soooo beat up you couldn't recognized it! With its lights hanging out by the harnesses and all.
It only died, I regret, because we filled the top end with dirt and pinned the throttle til it died. I do regret having done this now, and I am always searching for another racecort, but I haven't found another like it.
