I have a 93 escort cosworth in my garage, for summer use only wot a car, it turns heads. more than you can say about most new cars. it's a legend.

I have 94' cossie running 390bhp and 400ft/lb and can't keep up with my mates astra turbo. he's running about 320bhp and leaves me behind to both our surprise.

Are you sure it's still running 390 BHP? Maybe there's a problem.

The Cossie only just wins that race on Top Gear.

If it's the one with the Escort Cossie (tuned), against the Impreza Type R, it was a dead heat.

I'm sure the Cosworth is quicker than the Scooby, but only by 2 seconds which isn't much of a difference. The Cossie is faster in a straight line, but the Scooby's faster around corners. Ford Cosworths have their edge at touring and racing, and the Scooby has its edge in rallying.

The Escossie and RS 500 Cosworth are hot hatches, but the Scooby was a saloon. The Cossie was and will always be a very very fast high performance car.

Yeah, but come on, the Scooby Type R is a highly tuned STi, so it proves that the Cossie is a better car.

The Type R was 308 bhp, not really highly tuned is it? 400 bhp+ is highly tuned.

But still both of them were tuned, and it proved that the Cossie is a better tuner.

I don't know which is a better tuner, but the Type R was standard.

It's standard, but Subaru tuned it before they sold it. The standard Impreza Turbo STi gives a healthy 215 bhp, though the standard Escort Cossie gives 227bhp, so both of them are just as fast as each other, the Cossie only just faster.
