"An all time classic and a legend"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The first day I bought the RS it kept cutting out, was getting really angry cause I thought I had been sold a duff car, anyways I found out it was the wiring on the fuel pump under than car, cut the old connectors and put brand new ones on and had no problem since.

The battery completely died on me about 3months after owning the car.

Alternator wires were loose.

Front wheel bearing went a month ago.

When I bought the car I noticed a slight judder when I was doing 70mph and braking, this was due to warped discs, I now have 2wd saph cosworth brakes and there really brilliant for stopping a well recommended extra.

General comments?

I've wanted one of these cars since I was about 10 years old, I said I would always have one and I have, the series 1 is my all time gole, but series 2 had a few better feature.

The car handles terrible on cheap tyres, but if you pay money for a good set they stick you to the road.

You can hear the turbo wynding up really nice when driving down the motorway or dual carriage ways, the dump valve just puts the icing on the cake, baileys twin piston, sounds really great on these cars.

The recaro seats are really comfortable, the girl friend loves them.

I've turned this car to pretty much standard now, theres a few added mods ie k&n, dump valve, boost gauge, turbo timer.

People say these cars eat the petrol, but that's a load of rubbish, I get around 100miles to £20 which isn't really too bad considering it's a turbo.

I hate the fact people in saxo vtr's and corsa gsi's try to race me.

I think because the Standard 0-60 of about 8.something seconds is still quicker than the VTR's 0-60 of 9.something so the Saxo gets left everytime...

If it was a VTS, then a slightly modified Esky would still leave it standing... or a very very slightly modified S1 RST would leave it standing... Lets face it, cars are just not the same...

And, yes, I'd rather have the new Focus ST over a Golf GTi... cheaper, quicker and sounds like heaven.
