"Wish I'd never went for "practical"!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

What hasn't gone wrong is a better question! I have replaced pretty much everything, including the entire engine less than a year after I bought it! Faulty pistons I was told after they blew up inside the cylinders. Nothing but problems; Fuel pump, water pump, computer chips for heating and coolingx2, ball joints x2, tye rods x2. The list goes on until I can type no more!

Although, when it's running, gas is a fair price.. if gas is fair at all thee days!

General comments?

Not a very comfortable car; seats are quite hard and leg room is limited.

The lighting in the dash is quite dim, although visibility from the windshield is more than adequate.

I can understand your frustration. I'm having constant problems with my low mileage '89 Chrysler Lebaron convertible that it shouldn't be having. But, I noticed you bought your car with a fair amount of mileage for an economy car and had A LOT of miles on it at the time of your review. You can expect major things to start going wrong on most cars with after 100k miles, with the exception of a select few models. If your original engine and transmission lasted over 200k miles, you should count your blessings! To have to replace the same parts more than once though would annoy the crap out of me as well. My car overheated and left me stranded 4 months ago. Just last week, it overheated and left me stranded again. I can't take this! I'm looking to buy a '97-'02 Escort as a replacement and they're sounding pretty good to me right now.

Wow. Your car has done well. Put it to bed, I say. I have a Korean vehicle - an 03 Kia Rio, and if it makes it past 200K I'll be happy. Other than the faulty pistons (? doesn't make much sense) which should have been covered under warranty and the computer chips (an easy money maker for mechanics as it is generally not labour intensive) your car has done well.
