2000 Ford Escort ZX2 from North America - Comments

"Ford treats customers BADLY!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The problem that keeps coming back is the faulty transmission on this car, it has been back in the shop 5 times since I bought it less than a year ago and this last time it was in there for almost a month while they stuck me with a Ford Aspire. They said it was a sensor that controls the transmission that is going out and they don't seem to know why it keeps going out on me.

The second thing is the rear brakes keep sticking or locking up on me, yet another problem they cant seem to figure out.

The last problem that bothers me is that the A/C is way too weak in hot weather.

General comments?

I love this car, it's a great performer but I will NEVER buy another Ford because they treat their buyers badly.

Ouch.. Consult their regional manager, and if that doesn't help their attitude find a different dealer. Don't turn to GM...

Same thing that is happening to me right now! I have taken my car in four times and each time they tell me a different thing has gone wrong on the car, but yet the car will still stall out while driving down the road. They also said that there was a recall on the 2000 ZX2's, they had to replace the bolts on the frame of the car, yet, when I go around and look at all of the recall sites for this, not a one say anything close to this.

I will never buy another Ford, worst car I have ever bought and worst service I have ever received. I would much rather go back to my 1990 Toyota Corolla that has 225,000 miles on it. It's slow as hell now, but I have never had a problem with it and I know that it's safe!

I bought a 2000 escort last year it was brand new (the contract says) The dealership just put in a new transmission. The car only has 20,000 miles on it. I wondering what else is wrong with the car. I hope I find out before the warranty runs out. I 'll never buy another ford. I wish I had known about this website before I purchased it.

Gee, I made it to 62,000 before the transmission blew up on my 2000 ford escort. I guess I should feel lucky!!

I just wanted to add to the list of Ford complaints. I've been a Ford guy since the early 60's. No more Ford for me. I Just bought a Nissan Sentra, and love it. It's a little too new to be judging reliability, but everything works good, and has a nice feel to it. Good luck to all you Ford guys; you're going to need it.

This review is fake. Ford would not have given them a loaner car that was out of production since 1997. I know that for a fact. The Aspire was made from 1994-1997. I assure you there wasn't one left on the lot in 2000 or being used for a loaner car.

As an owner of several Escorts from 1984 to my present 2000, I would always recommend them. They have been very dependable, take a lot of abuse, limited issues that are easy to repair.

My current 2000 Escort 4 door is very dependable and puts on 100 miles a day and has had a very uneventful 157,000 mile life so far.

Never quite understood the hate for Ford, I would put my past and present Escorts up against any Honda or Toyota any day. Just sad to see them not made any more.

As a former Ford dealership mechanic, there was an utter respect for this car, and when one would come in used, they did not say on the lot for more than a day before one of us would buy it.
