Brakes squeak constantly; even after having them replaced.
"Door Ajar" light constantly malfunctions... causing outside/inside lights to remain on.. even after vehicle is shut off.
Transmission problems, causing "service engine" light to remain on, as well as the "overdrive" light to blink continuously... had it fixed, and it happened again 2 months later.
Shuts down in the middle of driving.. for example: driving on highway, and truck just shuts down.
Service engine light is always on.
Theft deterrent system malfunctioned, causing truck to believe "I was stealing it!"
Problems everyday... too many to list.
I've yet to figure out why Ford cannot fix, or find what's wrong with the vehicles they BUILD!

I've taken it to the dealer 3 times, and they don't mind charging you for diagnostics; yet they can NEVER figure out why the car doesn't work!
I have a 2003 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer Edition that was purchased brand new and now has just under 15,000 miles on it. Currently as I write this, it is in the shop for the 23rd...yes 23rd day since May 13th. The overdrive light started to blink continuously and the transmission would skip. The first time I took it to the dealer thinking it was probably a sensor of some sort, they ended up replacing solenoids and bulkheads. I brought it home after 4 days and the 5th day after having it "fixed", the same problem occurred. I drove it straight back to the dealer, they had it for another 4 days (leaving me without for Memorial Day weekend) and then told me that there was nothing wrong with it!! I told them there had to be something wrong with it and then they asked me if I was sure I had not been towing anything, I hadn't, but told them that we had purchased the vehicle for it's size and capabilities and that if it wouldn't be able to tow a mid-sized boat I didn't want it. (Keep in mind when we purchased it we were reassured towing our boat would not be a problem with the Expedition). After the light came on for a third time, the truck was taken back AGAIN and they realized it needed a new Torque Converter. I was told I could pick it up today, but when I called to pick it up, they said they had found yet another problem with the transmission and had to order another part called a Servo (?). Which all sounds oddly familiar since the previous vehicle we traded in was a 1999 Expedition XLT that was still under the manufacturer's warranty and had a sensor, rear wiper and whole new engine replaced within 7 months of purchasing it. When we turned it in, the overdrive light was flashing and we were told we would need a new transmission. We thought we had just bought a bad vehicle, so we purchased a brand new one to avoid any issues...
All in all, I love the size of the vehicle, the great features it has (3rd row folding seat), but I am EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED with this vehicle and will NEVER buy a Ford again!
Is this a common problem? I have 30K with my second transmission and starter. This is the worst vehicle I've ever owned. I should have gone with the sequoia, which has the best quality rating anyways. When will detroit put out something decent?
We purchased a 1999 Expedition Eddie Bauer in September 2000. The entire air conditioning system had to be replaced February 2004. I had not just one, but two additional estimates from local shops prior to having it fixed by the Ford dealership. The service people said "It's common to have to replace this by 60,000 miles". Sorry, but none of my other non-Ford vehicles, many of which I've had for 6-7 years have had this problem. At the same time I had the A/c replaced, I asked the mechanic to see if he could determine the cause of shaking when the vehicle accelerated (exp. at around 30 then 50 mph). I was charged for diagnostics, but no cause could be found. I then took it to a local transmission shop who said I simply needed a tune up (he was correct). The vehicle has also been in an accident (where it took a significant front side hit from a driver running red light) and the right side passenger air bag did not deploy. Again, the dealer told me it was the angle/and force of impact, but I most definitely could not concur. I'm now in the market for a newer smaller SUV/CUV/or even the new mini-vans, but am rather shocked by this make/model's failure to retain a decent market value. I'm very sorry, but Toyota's looking better and better.
People don't seem to understand that certain vehicles can be a little on the unreliable side. criticising the ENTIRE COMPANY line is just inferior. not every ford is bad, but the expeditions aren't their best either.
