1993 Ford Explorer XLT review from North America
"XLT= Xcellent Long Term vehicle"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Replaced both computers at 88,000 miles.
Air conditioner broke at 105,000 miles.
Had to replace the brakes twice since I've owned it.
Transmission uses a quart of fluid about every 700 miles.
Center console armrest is broken off.
Replaced thermostat 3 times since I've owned it.
General comments?
My Explorer is as solid as a 10 year old vehicle can be.
Turning has to be done at a slow speed because of excessive body lean. It can be a little scary at times. I've had it on two wheels many times.
The engine is very strong. I can smoke the tires on take off.
I have never gotten stuck in snow or mud due to the posi-trac rearend. It really digs in.
There is a lot of road noise, but I think it is due to the off-road tires.
Other than the normal wear and tear on the vehicle, it is truly a great vehicle.
