1994 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer review from North America
"Fairly good vehicle, just a lot of money to put into them once they get old"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Had to replace breaks four times, in 1996, 1998, 2000, and 2003 - Every two years, need new breaks.
Recently, the handle on the driver's side fell off while shutting the door - the door also leans down, having to really push it in when you shut it - or it will crack and wind will blow in.
Some leakage from the sun roof.
Electrical problems with the vehicle. In fact, when we bought it at the dealership, the battery was ran down - replaced the battery probably 6 times since we've had it.
Power door window on driver side went out at around 115,000. Windshield wipers quick working shortly after the window went out. ($450 to fix both), bought four new tires ($500) six months ago.
Yesterday, at 121,000 it blew a head gasket, and the transmission went out (Both at the same time).. and got a quote from the mechanic that it would be $4,300 to fix both.
General comments?
I've put a lot of years into this vehicle, and it's been a reliable friend until lately. I think it's time that we part our ways. I've already purchased another vehicle.
