2000 Ford Explorer XLS review from North America
"A complete waste of money and an inconvenience to every aspect of my life"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Tires recalled.
Seat bolt recalled.
Ignition backed up and ignition wires burnt out.
New steering column.
New power steering unit.
The check engine light goes on every 200 miles or so.
Replaced every spark plug in the engine numerous times.
Engine overheated even after coolant was refilled many times, and after entire system was checked for leaks.
Rattling noise persists even after missing engine parts were replaced.
Car jerks back and forth due to a poorly assembled steering unit.
The luxury of driving 12 rental cars and riding in 4 different tow trucks as my car was taken to the shop to get "fixed".
Literally about 50 more problems I've had in the last 2 years.
General comments?
If I had no warranty with this car the total amount I would have paid to get it fixed every time it broke down would be well over $10,000.
There are absolutely no perks to this truck, because even in 4 wheel drive it handles pretty rough in the snow.
