1991 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer review from North America

What things have gone wrong with the car?
Well, where can I start?
About 5 months after I had the car it needed a whole new transmision to the tune of $1700.
A month after that the intake manifold needed to be replaced for $600.
I'm currently selling the car because the whole front end needs to be rebuilt from the hubs to the U-joints. Basically the only thing that hasn't gone wrong is the engine... knock on wood.
General comments?
I paid $3500 for the car last year and although the car has been quite the money pit, it is very strong. I blame the transmission problem on the high miles and if it weren't for that then I would probably keep the car.
I do like its hidden abillity to go off-roading and it's surprising power off the line.
I suggest a tune up and inspection every 5000 miles if you own one or are considering buying one.
