1997 Ford F150 XL review from North America

The gas tank, Fuel pump, Fuel injector, and all fuel lines had to be replaced at 328,000mi (right when I got the truck)

Heater hose leaked about 340,000mi.

Rims badly rusted and all 4 rims replaced at about 339,000mi.

Engine is very hard to start in cold weather.

In the warmer weather when first started engine idles very high but goes down to normal in a few minutes.

Inside lights are very dim.

Paint is starting to flake.

I bought this truck fully stock, but I added a small lift kit and bigger wheels. I read a lot of bad reviews on this truck for this year and with 4.2 engines, but Believe it or not with very high mileage everything worked perfectly and never had major problems with it since my first year of having this truck.

This 4.2 is a powerful motor, but I think this engine should be for the Ranger instead. I feel V6 engines are not meant for full size pickups.

This is a 2wd truck, however it still handles well in bad winter weather as long as the truck has great tires. I have Continental Cross contact LX.

Bland interior but very comfortable. This bench seat is in great condition and looks brand new.

This truck drives very well and rides so comfortable. The gas mileage is usually 15mpg city and 20mpg highway but it depends how you drive.

The gas mileage is not great but could get worse if the truck is not maintained properly, so I maintain it and its not expensive at all to do it. By just taking excellent car of this truck I know it will last about another 350,000 miles with no problem.
