1995 Ford F150 XLT review from North America
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Hmmmm...when I bought it from a used car dealer I was sure I got robbed, I went straight to the cops and filed a complaint. It was supposed to be 4x4, dual tanks, power everything and in "excellent" condition. Bought over ebay, recieved it and blew my top, front driveshaft was literally blown apart, ball joints were so bad the shop said, and I quote "DO NOT DRIVE THIS TRUCK!!!", the rear drive shaft u-joints fell apart when we pulled the yoke, front brakes DID NOT work, the pads were'nt there!, Master cylinder was squirting fluid from a pin hole, rear end gears were missing teeth, 5 to be exact, seats were stuck full back and drivers was tilted sideways, door hadle missing on the drivers side, dents all over bed, holes from re-bar (?) in the bed, transmission was at best shot, big leak between tranny and differential and into engine from main bearing seal, never ran low on oil at least.
Paid $5000 for it, got every dime back and then some when they arrested the guy, many complaints against him, just happened to catch him before he "skipped out".
So...I repaired almost everything, thank God for competant mechanics, here's the Biglist-
Shocks, plugs, wires, cap and rotor, EGR valve, Engine breather, all filters, tansmission gaskets, main seal, rear end gears, one wheel, you joints, front drive shaft, ball joints, connecting arms, front springs, discs and pads on front (rear were the only good things), Idle air valve (this stopped the stalling cold, thank you previous reviewer for that tip) belts, idler pully, alternator, starter solinoid, starter, battery (after it cought fire in the shop), driver seatbelt, seat motors, drivers door handle (2x, ripped it off when the battery caught fire, I was inspired to get out), Brake master cylinder, and all the fuses at least twice, maybe more times. The parts counter and local pick n pull know me on a first name basis.
I made a few upgrades in the process, tires are now 31x10.5/15, the shocks are Bilstean, air filter is k&n, you joints are gorilla, all work better.
General comments?
Once it was put back together it was a monster where I live, colorado rockies and deep snow mean nothing to it.
