So, aside from the ability of a V8 to haul ass when you mash the peddle -- does anyone have anything to say on the merits of the 1990 F150 as *a TRUCK*? Does it rust to bits if you walk past with a salt-shaker in your hand? Is the interior plastic and tinfoil crap? Can it take speedbumps at 20mph without bashing your head into the roof of the cab? Does it tumble like a clothes-dryer if you take a corner sharp at more than 5mph?

Come on, weebles; post something *useful*.

You guys seem to be missing the obvious facts when comparing trucks.

You've got to race the same size engine trucks otherwise its not a valid comparison. Beating a 5.0 with a 5.7 is not a valid comparison nor does it give you the right to say chevy's are faster than fords.

You guys ought to think a bit more...

"I Have A 1990 F-150 5.0 V-8 And It Is Completely Stock And Runs a 16.7 On A Quarter Mile. So Anyone Doesn't Think a Ford will Outrun A Chevy Come down To Georgia And I'll Prove You Wrong. Also My Truck Has 478,000 Miles With No Engine Work!!!

I Know No One With A Chevy who Can Say That. The Only Repairs Are Like those Previously Stated Only Starter, Alternator, Transmission, And All That Is My Fault Pretty Much.

That Is Just My 10 Cents"

I don't know about the rest of you, but I had a pretty good laugh after reading this comment.

I think people should do whatever the heck they want to their trucks or cars without groundless insults, but what I find really funny in all of these speed comparisons is that nobody mentions gear ratios except like one person. You can race two vehicles with the same engine, but it's the gearing that will get you the speed to win a drag race.

Let me hit you Chevy lovers with some knowledge. My Ford F-150 Triton v8 5.4 beat a Chevy truck 5.7 by a car and half. All stock. Also like the other guy that has common sense, no way an inline 6 4.9 is gonna beat a V8 Chevy. Both are good trucks, but I'm a Ford guy and my Ford has beaten Dodges and GM trucks, and will keep doing so.

Maybe Chevys are faster, but they are nowhere near as reliable as Fords. I'll take reliability over speed any day.

Kind of a pointless argument. I've driven all kinds of vehicles, and they all do a pretty good job. Although I do prefer Fords for reliability, I think that GM does a better job of matching the engine and transmission, so they have much better pickup and power in general. However, in light of recent events (GM and Chrysler bankruptcy), I think everybody would do well to show more respect for all American brands. Even if you're a Chevy man, when you go around telling everybody that Ford sucks, all it does is increase the likelihood that your kids will be arguing over whether their Toyota Tundra or Honda Ridgeline is faster. I don't think any of us really want that...
