I had to replace the spark plugs at 69000 miles.
The truck is really comfortable and has a ride like a luxury car. It is also a workhorse and is excellent in four wheel drive. With the 4.6 litre V8 it still has plenty of horsepower and torque. With a load the bed does not sag like my previous Dodge Ram and Chevrolet 1500 (contrary to what other writers say).
It also has the nicest styling and 17" wheels and tires that fill the wheel wells, unlike other trucks on the market. This is a very dependable truck and holds its value quite well. I would recommend this truck to anybody.
Let me ask you a question, if you like the truck so much why would you not buy another one?
I feel the same way. I use my explorer to haul around 200 lbs of cow crap.
If you would not buy another is it because this one is so good or are you going to go back to one of the two trucks that you said suck?
I have a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 1500HD crew cab LT with a Southern Comfort Customize package for use on the highway. It just looks, rides and drives better! Now for the 1997 F-150 Off-Road Standard Cab, short wheel base. It is used in the woods and the dirt/mud nearly exclusively. I deal in forest land and am a dog hunter so I put her through the paces, sometimes pushing her to the limit. So far she has performed fairly well, only needing rear axles, bearings, brakes, electronic circuit boards, one recall and a few other minor repairs. She enjoys a little over half a quart of oil between 3,000 mile changes. Not sure, but, I think this may be a little excessive, since she only has 258,000 miles on her. The 1976 Chevrolet she replaced had 736,000 on her original power-train when she was retired.
You put 29,000 miles per year on your truck and it's all off road? That makes no sense.
