I have a flare side 92, and it pulled a 3000 pound camper, and a chevy silverado, because it lost 4 wheel drive in 3 foot water. Great truck.
I was wondering if anyone knew where to get the plastic stepsides because when my dad was painting my truck mine broke. If any one knows where please tell me. THANKS.
I just recently purchased a 92 flareside with 183,00 on the clock. this truck is equipped with a 302 efi and runs and drives like a new truck. I too was wondering where to buy replacement reinforcement tubes for the plastic cab steps that my truck is equipped with. This truck is going to recieve a complete repainting this winter as well as having the front fenders replaced. It appears that the front plastic steps that are under the cowl portion of the front fender hold moisture causing the bottoms of the fenders to rust. I am also the proud owner of a 92' styleside XLT equipped with a 300cid six. this truck currently has 265,000 miles on the original engine. I have replaced two water pumps on this truck as well as four (4) fuel pumps (two for each tank) u-joints and belts, normal wear items. I think that the 1992 Ford Trucks are some of the best trucks that The Ford Motor Company has ever produced. I would put the reliability of my two 92 Fords up against any make of truck!!
One of the things that I learned over the years from several close friends who are employed at the local Ford Dealerships is that if you own a 1992 thru 1996 Ford F150 equipped with duel fuel tanks, you should change the in line fuel filter at least twice a year depending upon your avarage mileage. Think about it, you are suposed to change your oil every 3000 to 4000 miles, how many gallons of fuel are you putting through the in line filters on your F150?? with the quality of fuel that is purchased from different vendors (gas stations) it only makes good sense to change in line fuel filters. The more crud they extract from your fuel, the harder the electric pumps will have to work eventually causing their failure.
I bought a 1992 flare side 4x4 5.0 auto this past July with over 100k on it, replaced brakes, shocks, starter, tuned it up, changed the oil, flushed the Tran, had it undercoated, and
that's it, ever thing else is fine, no rust, sky blue paint, and it runs just fine, see their not all bad, I'm happy.
I have a 1992 flareside, but there is problem that I have no idea why it happens... when driving the truck starts to rev up by its self... and the rpms go high whit out pressing the gas... if any one knoes why pleas let me know.thank you.
I recently bought a 1992 Ford F150 XLT Flareside.
I love this truck, with about 180k miles on a semi-new 5.0L v8 302.
I have had no problems with the truck; I've owned it for about 3 months now. I plan on rebuilding an old 5.8L 351 with my father and placing it in my truck. Also, I am removing the stock exhaust and putting on a Flow Master American thunder kit, and a jet performance chip on the 351 motor when I finish rebuilding it.
I have a 92 F150 flare side that I bought used with 160k on it that I just love. The 5.8 is a monster of a motor sure it isn't the best on gas, but I still love it. The truck has had the usual balljoints, u-joints, and fuel pump. For a 16 year old truck what do you expect. All in all it is a real runner and I would certainly buy another one. No wonder the f150 is the best selling truck ever. With a little repair here and there they run for ever.
Only 1 problem, they stopped production on the tailgates and I need one lmao!!!
I saw a 92 flairside with a rebuild motor of a 5.0
it has old dual exsaulse, and good interior and nice grill.
It has double tanks, batt. dead. it has a c6 in it.
I want to buy this truck it looks alsome. it also has a top piece that opens and close on the bedding. no dents.
He asking 3.000
iwant to know can I take the 5.0 out and put the 5.8 in even its fuel inj. and don't forget the harness, do I have too change that too.
I have the same problem as someone who posted a comment before, but I didn't see an answer to the question: I need a rear fiberglass fender for my 1992 flare-side. Ford doesn't make them anymore and I am wondering if someone knows where to find a replacement.

I own a 1992 5.8 4x4 Ford FlareSide, I have to say yes they have some minor repairs to be done here and there but not much to worry about. The only real problem that I have is the transmission. My truck is an automattic but I have to let go of the gas slightly to let it shift at certian rpms. BTW I have 241983.4 miles on my flareside.
I like to have fun with this truck especially since she's real light and will not get stuck in MUD!
To the guys needing spare parts it will be really hard to find the best you can do is head to the junkyard and look for parts.
Well I have had my truck for almost 7 years. It has 184789.8 miles on it and is still going strong, so I guess that means that if you know how to drive, that Ford is a truck for you, and if not, go to Chevy; they're like a rock, they never move.
I have a 92 silver flare side with the 351. Mine only has 86k on it. It too is in great shape, sadly I have to sell it, as my new Ford takes top billing now days. LMCtruck.com has lots of parts for Fords, you might try them for running boards and such. Ford's are the only truck I'd ever buy.

I've had 2 Fords myself; first I had a 88 F150 and it had 93000 miles on it, and the only thing I had to do to it was put a brake line on it. Oh, it had a 302 in it, and I traded it for a 92 F150 Flareside Nite with a 351; it's a good running truck, it has 171000, and the only thing I had to replace is the computer in, but as far as that I've had no other problems, and Ford is the only thing I will ever buy.
