I too own a 92 Ford F1, 5.0, 4x4, stepside. It is light blue, currently has 147,500 miles on it and still going strong...
To answer your question about the fiber glass steps.. I had to re-build mine... and do a little welding, all is good now... and the power windows had to be replaced.. what I did was go to pick and pull and take out two motors out of a 94 explorer... snipped a few wires, and got it working JUST like new!! LOL
And currently I'm working on painting the underside of her with rust stopping paint...
Overall for a truck that I bought for 3200 bucks it's great. I love it, and no rust!
Any other questions e-mail me at shooter.92@hotmail.com
I have a 92 Flare Side I bought 4 years ago when it had 123K miles on it. I had to replace the starter and alternator within the first 6 months I had it, but other than that it's never broken down. The front fuel pump was out when I bought it. I finally replaced it last year, but the new one went out in 2 months. It doesn't have any mechanical problems, but both door kits need to be replaced and the passenger side window is off track.
I have a 1992 Ford Flare Side with 186000 on it. I love the truck. The truck has a 4.9 I6 with the E4OD 4 speed auto tranny. Now I have had to put some work into the truck. It is on it's third transmission, second set of rod bearings, new fuel pump, new wiper motor, 3 sets of brake rotors since 144000, two new bumpers, new head gasket, new power steering pump/gearbox, rebuilt front end, new muffler, heater core, assorted dash parts/ interior parts, needs an EGR valve (haven't gotten there yet), new thermostat, new steering wheel, new multi-function switch, new shift lever, and I'm sure some other assorted stuff. Now this sounds severe, but considering I was using it to tow upwards of 5500 lbs every weekend and had to pull the load across terrain that required 4 wheel drive quite a bit, it isn't that bad.
I got a 1992 flare side 302 V8 2 wheel drive in spring of 06, and it is my first car, and the only problem that I've had with it is the compressor is out on it, so the AC doesn't, work so that's a bummer, and I had to get the checker valve replaced last year, but other than that, it has been running fine. Oh and it's "purple", so I get a lot of crap for that. Oh, and if you know where I can find a compressor for it, that would be great.

Mines a dark red, I've seen 1 purple one around here...
I too own a 92 flareside. It is lowered 3inchs in front and 5 inches in the rear. I like the truck and the looks of it down on the ground.
I have a 1992 Ford Flareside Stepside with the 300 straight 6 in it, and I have NO problems with it. It has 237833 miles on it, and the main thing is I had to put now ball joints in, because I got in a wreck, and I put brand new superswampers on it, so I didn't want to ruin them, and a clutch. That's all I had to replace. I don't know where you guys are coming from with the window problems, door locks and alternators, because I run a 1300 watt amp and have no problem, and it's the stock one and I get about 16 mpg. I've got the problem where the front tank gas goes in the back, but I don't worry about it, I just fill up the back.
Well yall have a good day.
I have owned my 1922 Ford Flareside F-150 for 15 years. Sadly I had to buy a new truck before one of us lost our job and couldn't get financing in case we needed a new truck since mine is 17 years old. I LOVE my pink truck. It is the best looking truck I have ever seen. It may have had it's moments but it is 17 years old. I know people who have one year old Hondas and they are replacing headlights. Hmm never replaced one of those in 15 years. $1,000 a year in maintenance and parts is much better than 700 a month in car loan payments. If I had storage and a mechanically inclined spouse then it would be mine FOREVER! Alas I don't.
I bought my 92 Flareside not too long along ago. For 220,000 miles on it, it's sound. It was just involved in a wreck. A person hit just the passenger side front wheel. I was wondering if anyone knows how much the truck is worth because I'm sure it's going to be totaled because of this. It's a 4x4 5.8L ext cab. Great truck, I'm hoping it doesn't get totaled, but I'm keeping it no matter what.
