Nothing so far.
My first Ford truck has been a pleasure to own. A little fuel-thirsty, despite the small V8. I usually get 11-12 mpg in town and 15 mpg highway (and I'm a very gentle driver). However, it has so many good attributes that I can't really complain too much about mpg.
I've only had the truck for about 1.5 years and put only 10K miles on it in that time. Yet, I can see that this truck will last a long time and should prove to be relatively trouble free for years. The build quality is excellent and the overall systems designs are pretty good too.
I bought it with 114,000 miles on it. You'd expect it to need more than just a headlight bulb replacement in 18 months (and especially with that mileage), but that is ALL I have had to repair or replace. Other than changing the oil and lubing the chassis, it has been trouble-free.
I'd like to drive this one to a minimum of 200,000 miles. I plan to buy a new truck at that time, and it will most certainly be another Ford pickup!
Well it is a very well built truck. I own a 1990 XLT Lariat 4x4 standard cab longbed. It has been the best truck I have ever owned, even though like you said it is a lil fuel thirsty. It has 447,446 miles on it and it's all factory.
Currently I have to put a new motor in it because of my own stupidity. I was mudding and a rock got in the intake, and progressed all the way to the valve and lodged itself in, and kept the valve open. But even with a stuck intake valve and 7 cylinders, this truck still has enough power to pull my racecar trailer to the track every weekend.
I will NEVER buy a new truck. My grandfather bought it new in 90. Then my uncle bought it. Afterwards I ended up with it after having the most unlucky truck, which happened to be a Chevy. I will never drive a Chevy again.
