Has a clunking sound under the drivers side that comes and goes.
The biggest problem is the front brake calipers ceasing up, which was similar on my old 1986 ranger.
Gas mileage isn't the best, but it is a
ford.
This has been the best vehicle I have ever owned and plan on keeping this one a long time. Haven't replaced the battery, exhaust or the back brakes yet.
That clunking noise is caused by a worn the radius arm bushing.
UPDATE.
Have not had any problems and I have since sprayed all the rubber bushings on the front suspension with brake fluid, and the truck is as quiet as new. A pleasure to drive.

Almost 4 years since last update and no major repairs. I did replace the radius arm bushing myself after I found that the dealership had melted it with a torch trying to adjust the nut to quiet the squeak. Have also replaced the brakes, battery, and the starter relay, but have not replaced the exhaust, serpentine belt or radiator hoses. Very cheap to maintain even though it is 11 years old. Just recently noticed the oil pan is starting to rust and may leak in the near future. This is a common problem with that year. Keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for a few more years.

Still have the original exhaust on the truck (13 years old), but have put hose clamps (gear clamps) on the pipe hangers and pipe clamps to hold exhaust together because the welds had rotted. Just replaced the coolant, lower rad. hose and the serpentine belt, but not the upper rad. hose or the rotor or dis. cap. I wired brushed the oil pan and sprayed it with rust proofing, should hold for a while. Truck still has no rust and looks great even though it is kept-ed in a damp garage year round in cold Canadian winters. Truck runs great without having never done a tune-up. I did clean the idle air control last summer because the engine felt like it was going to stall on hot days. Even the air conditioning is still very cold, better than our much newer car. This truck has never let me done yet. Still a keeper!
