Transmission is grinding.
The rear bangs when going up hill.
Strains when towing a 2,100 pound boat.
The cabin is comfortable and roomy.
When the transmission is not slipping, the truck is smooth riding.
I like mine pretty well though I've had the same grinding I think. Usually its after I begin accelerating after a stop, it will make a brief grinding sound at about 20mph that sounds like you drove over a cattle guard. then it stops and won't do it for a while. its been to the dealership many times and they just keep saying they can't duplicate the problem.
I too, have experienced that same grinding, tends to do after coming to a stop and when coming out of a turn.
Yes, it comes also when I complete a turn as well. any ideas anyone on why this happens? the dealership has checked my transmission twice and keep saying it has no problems... any thoughts?
Could it be something in the rear differential? You mention it happens after turns.
My uncle has a 2003 f150 and at 900 miles he had to get a new transmission. the cd player broke twice.
I don't know if its the rear differential. they replaced the pinon gears twice because they were whining... so I'm thinkin they may have seen the problem then? I dunno.. what do you think?
The weird sound that sounds and feels like you are running over a cattle gate are caused by the torque converter lock up mechanism. Replace the flex plate and converter.
It has a limited-slip rear diff. they need a special friction modifier added to the gear oil. it is for the clutch packs in the diff. it should help with your problem.
