1999 Ford F150 XL review from North America
"A cheap dependable new vehicle"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The was a hairline crack in the driver's door by the window and B-pillar. Ford repaired under warranty. The problem seems to stem from closing the window too tightly.
The 5 speed tranny is getting harder to shift. This seems to be the result of either trying to shift too quickly or sloppy shifting.
The battery went dead after 4 years. Replace by aftermarket one.
A small squeak from the rear going over bumps. This may be the tail gate.
General comments?
Very dependable. The engine has enough power.
The handling is very vague and the steering is sloppy. This is probably because I am used to sports cars like my last car the BMW or my other car the Mazda RX-7, but that is why I have the RX-7 :^).
