"Never again"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Transmission pan was bad

Transmission sensors are going out

It sucks gas (badly)

The headlights have moisture in them

The cruise control went out

The door locks switch went out

The horn went out

It is always leaking radiator fluid even when I had the car guys put new ones on

The brakes have had to be replaced 6 times so far.

And recently the ac compressor went out

and also the timming belt has got to be replaced for the 3rd time.

General comments?

The truck was excellent for little trips, not for the purpose I need it for since I am in college and it cost so much in fuel for this truck I will be trading it in friday 23, 2004, I will be going back to gm products since I have had better experiences with them. The Geo tracker that I have has 413,281 miles and so far just the belts and hoses have had to be replaced.

I find that hard to believe.

Hello, review writer, catch a clue!

The Ford 5.0 does not have a "timming" belt, it has a chain which should not require replacement until many more miles than your truck has on it. They must love to see you pull up at the repair shop: "Here he comes again, let's tell him he needs another timing belt, haha"

And it is an utter impossibility that your Geo Tracker (which btw was made by Suzuki, not GM) ever made it to that lofty mileage at all, let alone with only needing belts and hoses!

Timing belt? On an F-150? Um, no. There's no timing belt. Timing CHAIN on a 5 liter could, theoretically, fail, but it would be a stroke of incredibly bad luck -- because it doesn't happen often. The 4.9, I believe, has a gear driven camshaft.

Whatever.

The 1994 Ford F150 XLT always been a very reliable truck and how can someone says replacing Timing Belt when they don't have any?

This person does not like Ford at all and probably never owned one before or like others said the guy at the garage must like to see him coming.

You can't blame him for not wanting a Ford anymore, considering that it made at least three trips to the garage, and a Ford mechanic apparently robbed him of the cost of three timing chains, labor, and who knows what else. I do find the mileage on the Geo almost impossible to believe, but I surely can believe that an F-150 broke down. That's very common.

According to this student he has owned his truck for one year and has put a 100,000 miles on it, I guess it was an expensive year for gas and timing belts, chains yeah right whatever...???

I have an 94 F150. When I bought it in 2000, it had 16400 miles, and so far I replaced the starter, muffler, battery and other miscellaneous items like windshields wipers.

It now has 32600 miles and is still going.

The transmission seems to be fixing to go out, but I could not ask for more. So just say you don't like Fords and that's all.

My 94 F150 XLT super cab has 275000 miles and drives like it's still brand new, I love it.

I had a Chevy and live in flint miles. You would think I'd be 110% for Chevy, but my Chevy was a piece of crap.

700 USD for a truck that runs and drives like new can't be beat. My own mother worked the line for 30 years at Flint Chevy truck assy plant, and I know I'm buying another Ford truck as soon as I find a well maintained one like this so I can have two.

I have never seen a GEO that could get 400K miles on it! My mom had a Prizm and the motor blew at 100K!

As for the truck, I got my 94 F150 V8 302 2WD last year in 2008. When I got it the other guy replaced the radiator and I put on a new water pump and thermostat. Other than a idler pulley ($20.00) going out the truck runs like a dream!

I also have a 2005 SUV (like a tracker) and the F-150 gets as good gas mileage as the SUV does!

I drive 60-65 miles to work (one way) in the F-150 all the time and I have never had a issue with it on long trips. The ride is comfortable, the gas mileage is awesome, and the truck is bullet proof!

As for the timing belt...yeah, you got took there man! I hate to say it but when you are not aware of what the car/ truck has on it then you will get taken to the cleaners!

This is just a review from someone that is unaware of what they have and how to use it correctly.

32,600 miles is nothing!! And the fact that you replaced all of that in only 16,000 miles says a lot about Fords. They're crap.
