1998 Ford F150 XLT extended cab review from North America

Intermittent wiper switch failure at 5000 miles.

Radiator hose was rubbing against its support and cutting the hose.

Intermittent wiper switch failed again at 10000 miles.

Automatic transmission stuck in Second gear at 4000 and 37000 miles.

All four ball joints failed at 55000 miles.

Rear speakers on stereo replaced once and blew again 3 months after replacement.

Sliding rear window leaked like a sieve from day of purchase. The dealer did replace window after repeated attempts to seal the leak had failed.

Rear leaf Springs slid apart twice.

I am constantly looking for an open window when driving because I hear the wind inside and feel a breeze also.

Windshield wiper fluid pump is not powerful enough to get cleaner to the upper part of the windshield at highway speeds.

Manual adjustment of lumber support on driver's seat broke at 20000 miles.

At 84000 miles, the dome light started staying on due to the door open light being on. After driving and hitting a few bumps, the door closed light turns off and then the dome light turns off.

Power windows needed lubrication after 5000 miles.

Other than the transmission sticking,

these concerns are very minor considering to what could have gone wrong.

I did have the engine block (anti-freeze and oil system flushed with solvent) and the transmission fluid changed at the dealer at 40000 miles.

I plan on having this done again at 90000 miles.
