1998 Ford F150 XLT review from North America
"Dependable, other than some minor issues"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
No major problems.
Check engine light (EGR Valve) at 80,000. Truck still ran OK, did not repair, light went out on it's own at 90,000 and hasn't returned.
Some annoying vibrations at 40 and 70 MPH, maybe driveshaft offbalance.
Rear window leaks in upper RH corner. Very annoying.
Driver seat wore out around 70,000. Cushion lost it's support, now sits very unlevel (I'm not that big!).
General comments?
I think the gas mileage is great for a full size truck. I get 20MPG on the open highway (65-70MPH with cruise on). Around town I get about 15MPG. It has been very dependable, other than some annoyances like a water drip from the rear window and some vibrations.
For the first 50,000 it ran very smooth and comfortable. Got considerably more 'bouncy' after that.
