1979 Ford F150 Ranger review from North America
"Solid Powerful Truck"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
When I first got it, I had to put in a new rear end, a tie rod, and front u-joints. Also I had to do body work to the cab corners and area above the rear wheels. It was driven across canada from british columbia before I bought it.
General comments?
It's a 1979 Ford F-150 Supercab 4x4. The body was a little rough in isolated spots, but the frame and floor are very solid. This is pretty good for a 26 year old truck that was always used as a work vehicle. It runs on propane and is very very quiet. It runs pretty much perfectly with 288000 kms. It has very low 4:11 gears so it eats up gas on the highway, but the truck has a lot of torque and is very impressive in the hauling and towing department. My grandfathers 2001 dodge 4x4 has nothing on this truck. I bought this truck to serve as a winter vehicle while my old AMC rambler is in storage. I really enjoy driving the truck and it performs very well, but the gas mileage is quite bad (12 miles per gallon perhaps) and hard to afford for a student. I easily go through 100 canadian dollars a week in propane. If not for the high running cost I would absolutely love it.
