1998 Ford F150 xlt review from North America
"This particular truck is a lemon...!!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Three power steering units replaced within the first 10k miles. All failed in control and seals.
Drive shaft replaced, wrong one installed
at manufacture. 8k miles.
Transmission replaced, wrong one installed at manufacture. 12k miles.
Two rear extensions on transmission
replaced. wrong one installed when
transmission replaced both leaked.
12k and 14k miles.
Computer replaced twice. one failed
the other would not accept the
program for the v6 according to the
dealer. first replacement 4.5k and
second replacement at 9k miles.
Rear end leaked, seals replaced
at 24k. Leaked again at 65k
replaced seals and bearing.
Foam in driver seat collapsed
at 45k miles.
Oil dip stick broke at mounting
point on exhaust manifold. Burned
off due to manifold heat. 48k miles.
General comments?
Thank goodness Ford got rid of the
twin I beam front end. You can
actually align and maintain your
front end now.
Ford trucks ride the best on the
market.
Ford needs to have available a real
key type locking gas tank cap to
help prevent fuel theft.
V6 engine performs terrible and
gets worse gas mileage than the
small V8.
