1989 Ford F150 Custom review from North America
"Bullet proof 4.9 In line straight six!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I replaced my Idle Speed Control Valve as soon as I got it because it was idling poorly when cold, fixed the problem (seems standard on these trucks).
General comments?
I love this truck! The legendary 4.9 in line 6 definitely doesn't disappoint, it has tons of torque and is very easy to work on. It is what it is, a reliable hauler. I swapped an 87 Chevy Iroc Z-28 for it, I love the much better gas mileage and the dual tanks on the truck. I do wish the manual transmission was beefier than the 5 speed Mazda, but it does the job. I've owned 3 Ford Rangers (highly recommend) and a 97 F150 with the 4.6 V-8 (I loved that truck too, just had issues for a first year edition) and am very happy and proud to own a legendary F150 as the 89 in line 6 clynder manual transmission short bed pickup (wouldn't trade it for anything, not even a coup deville!). 180,500 miles and still running strong, highly recommend!
