2003 Ford F150 F 150 Supercrew 4x4 from North America - Comments

Within the first two weeks both front door window regulators went bad.

All four rotors had to be replaced.

Rear end is very noisy, Ford states this is normal.

More squeaks and rattles that you can count.

Very poor gas mileage.

I ordered this truck thinking I would get all the options I wanted and not have to settle for what was on the lot since I was up sizing to a full size truck and spending all that money.

After the first several weeks I soon realized I should have kept the Toyota and saved my money. The basic design of the trunk is great, what's not to like, four full size doors, 5 1/2 ft bed, good looks and fair gas mileage. What a mistake. The dealer has fixed everything that has gone wrong except the mileage.

It's unreal for Ford to expect 11mpg city/highway to make anyone happy or a return customer. I have done all the mod's to get better mileage and have gone from 9.5 to 11 and it's not even the big 5.4 V8. This will be the last Ford for me.

Brake rotors? I think that could be your driving style that also affect mileage. This is a big vehicle you know, all the little stuff wears out quickly.

Gas mileage? Well it depends on your driving style really. It might not matter that you have the 4.6 since it is working harder to move the extra weight of the crew cab and the 4x4 system. The 4x4 system itself takes away from mileage as well.

This is a 2003 model and as far as the rotors go, at 13k the dealer felt this would take care of vibration felt at highway speeds. What mileage do you get with yours? I still feel 11mpg is unacceptable considering it is rated at 14 to 18mpg. I would be happy with that.

I have a 2002 f150 scab with the 5.4 v8. I bought it last May with 60,000. runs great and I get around 15mpg on average. I recently drove from new york to Pennsylvania and got 18 or better. no major defects, but as with another review my tailgate sometimes locks itself, annoying, but not a major problem. so far, great truck.
