"Very impressed, so far!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Only had the car a short while!

Slight rust around the rear arches.

Rear window seal faulty allowing water in!

General comments?

Very quick in mid range revs.

This is my 5th XR2, and by far the best.

Comfort, handling and all round ability.

Keep them serviced every 6 months.

I've also got an XR2i 1.8 16v. I've recently had it lowered!

New clear back clusters fitted and many more extras, it's only done 54,000 miles.

At the most I can only get 25 miles to the gallon, how much do you get?

Hi,

I've got a Fiesta Si and that only does about the same - that's the modern Zetec as well! Don't worry, I think that's the going rate.

Tim.

Just picked up an XR2i 16v - Goes like stink. Has a reconditioned engine fitted so mileage is quote low - sweet as a nut. It purrs nicely, good to listen to and complimented by (in my opinion) a slightly over-the-top exhaust, but it turns heads.

Only thing is it rattles... really bad rattles from the panels/dash etc.

Starting to rust in random patches on the doors and boot. Some starting on the petrol cap area.

Handles well (even with no PAS), acceleration is ridiculous, pick-up is very surprising.

Fuel economy very bad if driven hard. But these cars were made to be driven hard.

My xr2i 16v is my first car not bad eh! Its totally standard in radiant red the only mod I've got is a set of polished rs1800 alloys. I didn't realise till I bought it how rare the 16v xr2i was? But I have to admit the mk3 xr2i 16v not only sounds the best it looks the absolute nuts when there cleaned up, so roll on summer so I can show off my baby again!!!

I bought an XR2i 16v a few months ago looking quite ill. Spent some money on welding mainly and a fresh re-spray in the original radiant red. Looking really nice now getting ready for the summer. It was rusted in usual places sills arches wings (underneath kit) and petrol cap. Its been lowered 35mm on 15" Escort cossie wheels.

Handling is now realy good and acceleration is awesome up to about 80 or 90mph, but it does still pulls after that.

It's a fantastic car if you buy or have a nice one, just look after them they are rare and are still the dogs bits if its in good shape!

Hi there, I have a xr2i, and I agree these are the nuts!! it is SORN and has no MOT, I want it on the road, but it has a hole in the front wing, rusty sills, cables eroded, and the rear filler cap is a mess! I only paid £100 for it and I want it on the road, what would you guys advise, what should I do with the filler cap, fill it? thanks a lot your reply's will be a big help.

What is the big difference between one of these and an RS 1800i? Engine management? There is about 25 BHP difference isn't their?
