1995 Ford Fiesta RS1800 review from UK and Ireland
"Great, reliable fast hot hatch"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Steering rack needed replacing at 110000 miles.
Metal water pipe badly corroded.
General comments?
The car is known as a mk3.5, after chassis improvements from the mk3.
This car has good performance, not great, but OK.
The speed is deceptive due to the quietness of the Zetec engine.
It does 0-60 in 8secs, 130mph top speed, it has 130bhp, 115 ft\lb of torque, and has a power to weight ratio of 140 HP per tonne.
There were only around 490 built, so they are hard to come by.
Expensive to modify as the engine is complex, as it has double overhead cams.
The Zetec engine can motor on forever, expect problems from 165000 miles upwards.
The car has sporty seats, but the dash could use a makem over, as its the same dash in any other fiesta mk3 or mk3.5.
