107 bhp this, 0-60in how long?? stop talking about going fast and just do it... a sky line or soarer can be had for less than £2,300 and goes like stink, why oh why take a slow car and try and make it fast... waste of money!
I bought a Zetec S when I was 19. Now I'm 24 and buying another one on Friday. Since owning my first Zs I have had a Honda Civic Jordan, which is in a different league and a mk4 golf 1.8gti turbo. Although they are much faster cars, the fizz put a smile on my face and I want it back, although this time I'm gonna drop a 1.7 Puma engine in it with 130bhp to start with, then see how much more bhp I can get.
If Ford would have given this just that little bit more power, I wouldn't have wasted over 8k on 2 other cars.
VTR/VTS/GTI; been in them all, not a patch on Zs for fun, they rattle and squeak like hell, and everything shakes. If your window is half down it looks like it's gonna fall out. My advice is get a Zs.
You lot are full of lies!
A zetec s.. will NOT do 0-60 in 9 seconds, it will do it in 10.4 seconds, that is a fact..
Doing it on your stopwatch or phone is not valid..
Also it won't do 130mph..!
A saxo vtr will do 0-60 in 9.1 seconds tho, and it would not keep up with one.
The suspension on a vtr will hold the back wheels down better which I know because my friend has a Zs!
But.
The Zs
nonetheless is a better designed car with a higher build quality!
And don't even compare it to a vts/gti it would be railed!!

My 2002 Zetec S wouldn't beat a VTR, it would thrash one. I know what the book figures are, but that's the honest truth, as every VTR I used to meet on the road was after a race, and it demolished every one. I later bought a 2000 Zetec S, and it was no where near as quick, and there was very little between it and a VTR!
Also the 2002 model was standard, as I bought it from Ford with very little mileage, and actually swapped a VTR for it!
Does anyone actually know the correct bhp of the Zetec-S? Coz I'm getting a 1.9 tdi 130 bhp and I wanna know if it will do it?
Doesn't matter, you can't compare petrol to diesel purely on bhp, down to weight and torque as well. Official figures are about 105bhp, but it weighs under a tonne and there are little to no diesels that would match it on weight.

Never posted on here before, but feel after reading some comments, I want to add my point.
I've had plenty of fast cars, but I'd like to think I'm a bit more adult than to start putting other people and their cars down. Everyone has different needs from their car and budget. If someone on here is boasting about having a Veyron or an Enzo, then hats off, but why start slagging people's pride and joy off when ya driving round in some tin can Citroen, worth about 10 pence, that if you crash will just disappear. As previously said, it's not all about 0-60 or top speed.
I have owned lots of cars, including Clios and Pugs, and everyone can keep babbling about them, but when the person has a problem with their car, the person with the Ford will always have a smile when they get the bill. The other makes, it doesn't matter if you have more power, you're paying more for the car, and then twice as much for parts. I know what I'd rather have; a Ford, any of them, even the Zetec S, no more french rubbish.
I own a 2002 Zetec S, and I've raced a 106 GTi and a Saxo VTR, and we were head to head all the way, nothing in it!
Even though the 106 is lighter and more bhp.
And for safety, gotta be the Zetec S. The 106 would just crumble. I know, I saw my mate's one. The mk 2 Zetec S engines are way quicker than mk 1's.

Who cares what you raced, book figures say it all. VTR and Zetec S is driver dependent, and a 106 GTi has too much of a power to weight ratio advantage for either of the Saxo (excluding VTS as it is pretty much the same car) or Zetec S to keep up with.
