1992 Ford Fiesta L review from UK and Ireland
"Simple little car that does the trick."
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The exhaust down pipe had to be replaced at48,000 miles.
The backbox parted company at 42,000 miles.
The battery died suddenly, just last week.
The steering knuckle was replaced for the MOT, at 34,000 miles.
The door trim is starting to come away, underneath the window, a common fault with Fiesta's.
General comments?
Overall this car has been very reliable. When the battery died last week, I was gob-smacked, it was the first time the car had failed to start first crank, in two years of ownership.
The 1100 engine grind, s along just fine, so long as you regularly top up the oil.
My car is a C T X Automatiic gearbox, it wines and grabs abit, but generely it, s OK, but it, s no motorway cruiser.
I have three kid, s and there's plenty of room in the back seats, the middle one doesn't have to sit on a hump.
Overall this car does what it says on the tin. It makes a fantastic second runaround, and it's very economical.
