2005 Ford Five Hundred Limited review from North America

Rear brake, rotor, and caliper repair at 24000 and 29 months. The dealer has told me they are under recall but I can't find that listed on the Ford website or the NHTSA website by VIN search. I am taking it in tomorrow to have it fixed, hopefully under manufactureres warranty. I was willing to eat the cost of the brakes, but when the mechanic said the rotors were bad and then called again to say that the calipers were not retracting, I figured something was wrong. The tires started out with a sooty film that built up rapidly between car washes. I didn't know if this was normal or not, but then the grinding started and I knew something was wrong, naturally. In reading internet information, this is not a new problem. So, if you have this type of vehicle and notice any of the above symptoms, better take it into the dealership. I personally think there must be a problem if the calipers are already bad too. I drive 2 miles to work and 4 miles to my child's school. That's it for my driving (baring the occassional vacation). Hope this helps anyoone out there looking for answers.

Very comfortable ride, handles well for it's size, acceleration reasonable, gas mileage as expected.
