2009 Ford Focus SES review from North America
"Good economy car for the value"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
None; test driven only.
General comments?
The Focus is a quality car for the money. I am mainly looking at the 2009 Focus or Cobalt for my next car. I test drove the Focus; it revs smoothly, and continues smoothly until redline. At 75 mph it is riding at 3000 rpms, so it cruises pretty nicely (at least better than the Civic). The manual shifter felt good to hold, but the throws were longer than the Cobalt. The seats were comfy, but not much different from the Cobalt. The SES had sync, power windows and locks, plus anything else standard on SES. It was nicely equipped. Fit and finish were good.
The biggest problem with the Cobalt was the lack of power. Even compared to my Civic it was marginal; it had enough power to stay with traffic, and make passes, but thats about it. I could see myself getting bored fairly quickly.
In the end both are good cars, but I plan on buying the Cobalt; both for its price and its more advanced powertrain.

| A good looking reliable car with good brakes. But the lack of comfort drives you away |
