1999 Ford Focus ZTS review from North America
"Bad investment, bad choice"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Sending unit malfunction
Fuel-injector pressure sensor.
Bolts on rear suspension with loud noise.
Again, sending unit, incorrect gas display.
Excessive brakes wear, replaced both front brakes twice and rotors once.
Plastic trims around inside of windshield are warping.
Digital trip meter resets back to zero each time car is started.
Both rear doors creak loudly when opened, have lubed all moving parts, but does not stop.
Only have about 20000 miles on brand new rear tires that's rated for 45000 miles and they are badly worn.
Ford technicians damaged my door trims with a screwdriver.
Rubber seals around headlamps dry-rotted
and fell off so had to design my own.
Ignition lock stays engaged even when key is removed.
General comments?
The car drives well with really good acceleration, but is loud when pushed to higher speeds.
A lot of wind noise.
Fuel economy is not very efficient, I average around 23-24 miles to the gallon.
